When fiber came to Central Texas, it started in Smithville. Highline runs its Bastrop County operation from an office right here in town — the most established part of the local network.
Of all the towns in this build, Smithville has the deepest roots with the provider. In October 2025, Highline acquired the local Smithville / Bastrop County network — the former Rural Telecommunications of America (RTA) operation — and made it the anchor of its Central Texas footprint.
Highline runs the area from an office at 125 Kellar Rd, Unit C-2, Smithville (512-360-4273). If you were an RTA customer, your service carried over to Highline without a break. For everyone else in and around Smithville, this is the most mature stretch of the local fiber network.
Smithville's small-town charm — the brick main street, the Colorado River, the film-set good looks — now comes with a genuine shot at symmetrical gigabit fiber. Check your exact address to see whether you're already serviceable or on the build list.
